Vianden Castle, Luxembourg

Vianden Castle is one of the largest and most beautiful feudal residences of the romanesque and gothic periods in Europe. It was constructed between the 11th and 14th centuries on the foundations of a Roman ‘castellum’ and a Carolingian refuge.

Until 1977 Vianden castle was lying in ruins, but after Grand Duke Jean ceded the castle to the State, large-scale restoration work has been started, most of which has now been completed.

More information about the castle you can find at the official Vianden Castle website.
